Good to know

• For hoarding cleanups, works with family members, social workers, case workers and professional organizers; the homeowner may be present to help decide what stays. Source
• Removes only the items the client asks for and touches nothing without approval. Source
• Sorts removed items so usable goods go to donation and electronics go to recycling, but does not provide donation receipts or buy or resell items. Source
• Takes before-and-after photos of every job and can share them for insurance or estate records. Source
• A relative or other contact can handle the job on site or by phone, which suits clients arranging a cleanout for a parent or tenant. Source

Questions to ask before you hire

• How do you involve the person who lives in the home, and what happens if they want to stop?
• Will the same crew be there every day, and who is my contact?
• Do you handle mold, pests or animal waste yourselves, or bring in a specialist?
• How do you treat documents, photos, medication and valuables you find?
• Is the quote a fixed price for the whole job, and what could change it?
